Description
We offer natural nettle essential oil for cosmetics, obtained from the plant with the botanical name Urtica dioica. In international practice, the product is designated as Nettle natural essential oil for cosmetics. The oil remains a clear liquid with a pale yellow tint that is visible in daylight. The pale yellow tone comes precisely from the leaves, whose fat-soluble pigments pass into the distillate. The leaves give off a fragrance with a fresh herbal character and an earthy base. The fresh character comes from the green leaf alcohols that research identifies among the volatile constituents of the species, while the earthy depth is associated with carvacrol. Carvacrol and the other volatile compounds form an entirely natural composition. The composition is free of preservatives and colourants, as the natural cultivation of the raw material excludes external supplements. The raw material grows in Bulgaria, where the temperate climate coincides with the natural range of the species. The range of the species covers Europe and reaches Siberia, and botanists classify the plant among the perennial rhizomatous herbs with a natural distribution in the temperate biome. The plant belongs to the family Urticaceae, known for its perennial representatives. The representatives of the family yield leaves, and from them steam distillation extracts the aromatic fraction without the heavy non-volatile impurities retained by the plant mass. Distillation separates the volatile part from the plant mass and preserves a delicate olfactory character in the final liquid. The delicate character goes hand in hand with the clear liquid and the natural aromatic profile of nettle. The profile retains its herbal heart and its restrained olfactory expression.

Application
In natural cosmetics, nettle essential oil is used for its anti-inflammatory properties, its ability to regulate sebum secretion and its content of vitamins, minerals and flavonoids. In hair products, it nourishes the scalp, stimulates hair growth, strengthens the hair follicles and helps with hair loss, while balancing sebum and adding shine and elasticity; it is also used in shampoos and balsams to restore damaged and treated hair, as well as to relieve dandruff and dry scalp. In facial care, the oil is incorporated into creams, serums, toners and masks designed to refresh and even out the complexion, tighten the pores without drying and soothe irritated, reddened or problem skin with signs of acne and dermatitis. It is also suitable for hydrating dry skin, improving the elasticity of mature skin and caring for fine lines, as its action helps protect against free radicals and premature ageing. It is also applied in night formulas, products for the lips and the eye area, as well as in aftershave care for sensitive male skin. In body care, the oil softens rough skin on the elbows and heels and maintains the skin tone in the décolleté area, while its fresh herbal aroma also makes it a suitable ingredient in aromatherapy formulas for daily use.

Storage

Store natural nettle essential oil in a dark, cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Maintain a temperature of +5°C to +20°C to prevent oxidation and loss of beneficial properties. After opening, limit the amount of air in the container, and as the contents decrease, transfer the remainder into a smaller, clean and dry bottle. Use only aluminium or glass bottles for cosmetic products, preferably made of dark glass, which protect the essential oil for cosmetics from light. Close tightly after each use to prevent air and moisture from entering. Observing these conditions preserves the aroma and quality of the product for a longer period.
